She Said Destroy by Nadia Bulkin

She Said Destory by Nadia Bulkin is one of the best horror fiction collections I’ve read in the last decade. She describes her fiction as socio-political horror and that’s the best way I could even describe it. Her stories tackle many topics from a military coup with supernatural leanings, to a haunted hotel, to a post apocalyptic world with scary little monsters who like to roam around. If you’re in the mood for some short stories to get you in that Halloween mood, this is the best book to get you there.

Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge 

This book is a Halloween tradition for me. One of the best Halloween novellas ever written. If you want a short book you can read in a night and want that book to thrill, excite, and give you chills, look no further than Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge.

Burn the Dark by S. A. Hunt

Halloween is a great time for witches, and magic, and all things spooky. S. A. Hunt has you covered with her trilogy involving a badass witch hunter YouTube star, who travels across the country hunting down evil witches with a vengeance. If you want something thriller, spooky, and gooey, you can’t go wrong with the first book of this trilogy, which is shaping up to be fantastic.

The Train Derails in Boston by Jessica McHugh

Do you like your horror fucked up and erotic? Well Jessica McHugh has just the book for you. This book has it all for the spooky October read. Ghosts, a haunted house, sex, more ghosts, more sex, some nice splashes of gore. This is a fucked up book in all the best ways and comes with our strongest recommendation. 

Ashes and Entropy edited by Robert S. Wilson

Anthologies are a great way to discover new authors and Robert S. Wilson is one of the best editors out there.  If you like your horrors cosmic this anthology is a must have, every story is awesome and they all are accompanied by a fantastic illustration by Luke Spooner. Give this anthology a read and you’ll be surprised!
