A Book Review of: “Crawl” by Edward Lorn

Crawl

Edward Lorn

Crawl by Edward Lorn – it’s hard to know exactly what to say about this without giving too much away. It’s fairly short, the audiobook I listened to coming in at just under 2 hours. Basic plot is a couple, struggling with their marriage, have an awful car accident in the woods. Juliet survives, but the only way she is going to get out and away from whatever thing is chasing her is to crawl.

The narration for this (by Maria Hunter Welles) was excellent. If you like survival horror, or a singular focus, this one should be right up your street. Juliet is determined to make it out and away from not just the car wreckage, but the wreckage of her marriage, too. Lorn is great when it comes to tension and keeping you guessing, and the visual stuff is striking. Plotwise, I think I just prefer something else, but this is definitely one most people will appreciate. Good tension, good escalation, and the sense of isolation really comes through well.
