A Review of “Not Good For Maidens” by Tori Bovalino

Not Good For Maidens
By Tori Bovalino

Released June 14th 2022

Category: Rainy Weekend YA Girls-Kissing Romantic Dark Fantasy book that's perfect for fans of "The Magicians" "Harry Potter" "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and the darker side of Disney

"They’ll lure you in with fruit and gems and liquor and dancing, merriment to remember for the rest of your life. But that’s an illusion. The market is death itself."

I have to keep this one short and sweet, because otherwise I'll just spoil the hell out of it and that's just not fun. This has just about everything I could ever want in a book: girls kissing, strong women characters, magic and mystery, just enough adventure and action, plenty of gross icky slightly gory bits, and a whole lot of flawed folks learning how to navigate their traumas. I swear to goodness y'all would have to send the best, most brightest private detective-led search party to come find me if this Goblin market ever rolled into my town. There's no way I would be able to resist going to it at once, let alone resisting the chance to go multiple times once I'd already been given a taste of its darkly chaotic vibes. I totally, totally see the motivations behind all our main characters here, hahaha! I will desperately await any sequels or prequels and subsequent tales from within this universe.

Points for a forbidden queer romance with the most sapphic of melodramas, ugh yes give me more of it!!!!! I'd love to see this on screen provided they don't murder its integrity.
