Join our virtual movie club Rainbow Reel Revival for HALLOWEENFEST 2021

Rainbow Reel Club’s October Party Lineup

If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of joining our teammates Ellen, Cassie, and Dan for a weekly installment of Rainbow Reel Revival Movie Parties, you’re missing out! Check out our picks for our Halloweenfest this month, and feel free to join in the fun.  All you’ll need is a Netflix Account, Amazon Prime Account, Google Chrome, and Teleparty plugin (the pants, as always, are optional!)

Pumpkinhead
SATURDAY OCTOBER 2ND AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

A tale of a heartbroken parent hellbent on revenge filled with witchcraft, demons, posession, and murder!  There’s plenty of great monster effects and death.  This one has been included in our lineup by popular demand.  Any flicks from the late 80s and early 90s are almost always a surefire hit with our crowd, so you won’t want to miss it!  Dab will be a very happy host if you can join us for this one.

The Bat

FRIDAY OCTOBER 8TH AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

We’re opening the time capsule for this classic horror mystery starring Vincent Price.  A serial killer called “The Bat” is on the loose in a small town and someone has robbed a local novelist of one million dollars *pinky gesture*  Will the townsfolk be able to solve the mystery and restore order? Definitely not in our Reelies chat at least, that’s for sure.  Sign on for this one and enjoy a night of campy goodness and throwback vintage horror. Hooray!

Crimson Peak

SATURDAY OCTOBER 9TH AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

Don’t listen to the naysayers: this is a good movie!  This gothic, ghostly romance stars Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, and Jessica Chastain.  Get lost in the stunning, sweeping visuals from director Guillermo Del Toro, and come duke it out with the reelies as we debate if this is a copycat catastrophe or a cinematic masterpiece! (Spoiler alert: it really is the latter.) Ellem cannot wait to explain how right she is about this being amazing to anyone who tries to tell her otherwise. Are you up for the challenge?

Hubie Halloween

FRIDAY OCTOBER 15th AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

In a slight departure from our usual dark, dismal, or disturbing fare, we’re making a hard left into comedy-horror!  This rare treat is a more family-friendly offering so you won’t have to shield the eyes of your children should they wake up in the middle of the night while you’re partying with us.  This Adam Sandler offering is set in Salem, MA on October 31st, and follows a local weirdo as he and his fellow citizens attempt to solve a real life murder mystery!  We predict a very lighthearted chat for this one, so please stop by if you’re looking for a stress break.

Devour

SATURDAY OCTOBER 16TH AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

We offer the disclaimer that not a single damned one of us has actually seen this movie. Why did we pick it, then? Jensen Ackles. That’s it. Literally. We stan Dean Winchester, that’s all.  But come join us for a wildly unpredictable movie night as we check out this movie centering around an evil PC game and a highschooler who suffers from vieo-game induced hallucinations. Or something?  Who knows what the movie will be like, but we can guarantee this will be one thirsty Reelie Chat, so don’t miss out. #WinchesterWars

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1950s)

FRIDAY OCTOBER 22ND AT 8PM EST/9PM PST

It wouldn’t be Halloween season without a few vintage horror and classic drive-in titles in the mix.  We’re opening that time capsule again with this 1950s black and white classic.  And, if the mood is right, we might be brave enough to run the 1970s color remake as a double feature. SE QUEL! SE QUEL! SE QUEL!  Don’t miss out on this chat, which is guaranteed surefire entertainment as we marvel at Hollywood technology and SFX in their prime

Young Frankenstein

SATURDAY OCTOBER 23RD AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

Who doesn’t love a little humor with their horror?  This classic campy comedy from legendary Mel Brooks was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from our group.  We can’t wait to share in the fun of inappropriate jokes, repetitive humor, and monster movie mayhem. Please join in the fray!

Trilogy of Terror

FRIDAY OCTOBER 29TH AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

A nod to the childhood nostalgia of our very own Blood Casserole, The Trilogy of Terror is a much anticipated reelie night.  We can’t wait to dive into this anthology horror classic together!  Come and join the Reelies for a chat that is undoubtedly filled with oversharing galore.  We don’t have high expectations for the movie itself, but we are sure to have a highly entertaining experience anyway!

Monster Squad

SATURDAY OCTOBER 30TH AT 8PM EST/5PM PST

Something old. Something new. Something borrowed, like maybe you?  Don’t miss this one and make us feel something blue!  This nostalgic 80s style monster movie is taking us back to our childhoods as 5 tweens and teens pit themselves against the most classic monsters out there: Dracula, The Mummy, Gill Man, and Frankenstein’s Monster!  We’re looking forward to a night of thrills, chills, and mild humor with this one.  Some of us have seen it already. and are watching it for the first time. Don’t you want to see how that pans out? Yes, yes you do. Come join us! Who knows what mayhem might ensue, but it’ll be monstrously entertaining no matter what.
