Just in Time For Your Halloween Parties: Three Great Halloween Playlists!

Jon O’Bergh presents three playlists for our Divination Hollow readers, just in time for Halloween season!

These playlists can all be found on Spotify, and Jon has previously posted these to his own blog, too – you can find the links to these posts below.

Three Halloween Playlists

1. Halloween Party Playlist

Are you dissatisfied with the Halloween party playlists you come across? I certainly am. That’s why I created a playlist that includes well-known favorites (like “Thriller,” of course) and lesser-known gems (“Burn the Witch” by Radiohead). Some songs are humorous or whimsical (such as “Monster Mash” or “The Happy Phantom” by Tori Amos). Some songs are ominous (“Enter Sandman” by Metallica). Others are atmospheric (Poe’s “Haunted”). And others are simply thematic in a popular style (Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition” or Tom Petty’s “Zombie Zoo”). The list offers a balance of rock, pop, R&B, metal, alternative, Afrobeat, EDM.

2. Dark Soundscape of Fear Playlist

This playlist is geared toward setting a scary mood for a Halloween haunt. It features dark, ambient tracks interspersed with subtly creepy rhythms and strange sounds. A surprising amount of dark, ambient music exists, much of it rather effective. But to save you the trouble of wading through so much music, I created this playlist for Halloween haunts or wherever there is a need for a spooky atmosphere.

3. Songs About Witches

In this playlist you’ll find classics, the expected, and the unexpected. The songs cover just about every genre from jazz to rock to soul to Broadway to rap. One recurring theme is enchantment as a metaphor for the power of love. Often the lure is tinged with danger. Or at least mystery.

Jon O’Bergh is an author and musician who loves a good scare. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of California at Irvine. A fan of ghost stories and horror movies, Jon has published several books, including Shockadelica, and his supernatural stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines. He has also released over a dozen albums in a variety of styles. His website is https://obergh.net
