Pride in Horror: Now Taking Submissions
We are once again open for submissions for our annual Pride in Horror Event. Every June, we highlight the wide variety of voices in the LGBTQIA+ community, especially in reference to horror and dark fiction. If you have a topic you want to talk about, favourite books, films or other media you want to highlight, or reviews you want to spread around, we’d love to hear from you! We’re interested in essays, articles, reviews, spotlights, listacles and anything else you can think of. In the past, we’ve posted poems and short stories - often republished - and a variety of content from both LGBTQIA+ writers and allies.
Unfortunately we are not a paying market at this time, but we encourage submissions of republished works, spotlights, and other ways you can think to promote yourself and your work. We’re looking for articles and essays on general topics in horror, dark fantasy, sci-fi, true crime and any other ‘dark’ genres you can think of, from LGBTQIA+ writers, as well as content on queer themes within these genres. We encourage allies to submit reviews, listacles and spotlights that shine a light on queer media.
If you want to find out more, have any questions, or want to submit something, contact us via our email - dhrfeatures[at]gmail[dot]com, and just pop ‘Pride Question’ or ‘Pride Submission’ into the subject line. We now have an ongoing submissions process, so there is no cut off for submitting your Pride features! If we can’t get them up in June, we can either post it shortly after, or hold onto it until next Pride.
We’re here whatever you want to say, promote, or just shout about! And if you have an idea and want to run it past us to see if it works, feel free to reach out. We’ll be keeping a keen eye on the inbox throughout the rest of May and June, and we’ll have spotlight templates ready if you’re not sure what sort of information is required.
So whatever you’re feeling passionate about this Pride, we look forward to hearing from you!
