Movie Review: “Don’t Hang Up”
“Don’t Hang Up”
2016, Directed by Damien Macé And Alexis Wajsbrot
Dude! My phone’s ringing!
Dude! My phone is ringing, too!
Dude, now the house phone is ringing!
dunnnn duuuunnm duuuuuunnnnnnnn
Ok, so let me get this right. You expect me to believe that, in the year of our lord 2016, during the dawn of the age of social media obsession and YouTube dillweeds and ubiquitous smart phones, that two completely unsympathetic dipshit bro dudes, who run a prank “faux YouTube” channel, using it to prank a dude into thinking their wife died, prank call a person into thinking their doctor was calling with a cancer dx, and then prank order pepperoni pizza and watch as their friend almost gets his skull smashed in with a baseball bat, are going to care enough about anything around them much less to be aware enough to answer the house phone? More than once, even? And then…Then! You want me to believe they’ll give two flying fucks about what happens to anyone around them? #DownVote!
I mean? Honestly. I am at a loss for words on the creative hoops these writers jumped through in order to convince this audience to suspend disbelief and also have sympathy for the “protagonists” who are some of the dregs of the worst online antagonists.
Sorry, PrankMonkey69, I’m clicking “Unsubscribe” and will not be smashing the like button or ringing the little bell icon. In fact, I’d prefer to go back in time and make sure to never let my past self be notified this exists.
(Also, I can’t be the only person who thought the faux Snapchat app was called “PoopShoot” instead of “PopShot”)
