Jason’s Best of 2021

Jason’s Best of 2021

Lots to unpack (172 books read total!) so let's start.

Best Young Adult: From the Desk of Zoe Washington by Janae Marks

Charming and wholesome story. Something I'm not accustomed to.

Best Extreme Horror/Splatterpunk: Along the Path of Torment by Chandler Morrison

Not charming and not wholesome. (lol)

Best Anthology: If I Die Before I Wake Vol 3: Tales of Deadly Women & Retribution, ed. RF Sargent & Steven Pajak

I read a lot of anthologies this year, and this was probably the closest category. Good job everyone!

Best Collection: There Comes a Midnight Hour by Gary Braunbeck

When Braunbeck releases a collection, he will have the best collection that year.

Best Graphic Novel: The Upturned Stone by Scott Hampton

Once and Future by Kieron Gillen in a close second. Thanks to Cullen Bunn for the recommendation. Super creepy!

Best Novella: Ormeshadow by Priya Sharma

Also, the best fantasy novel I'd read this year.

drum roll........

Best Novel: The Last House on Needless Street by Catriona Ward

Best horror novel of the year also. You guys have got to be tired of hearing about this book by now. Just read it!
