[Review] - A Killing Fire

A Killing Fire

Published by Flame Tree Press

A child of a serial killer battles internally and externally to prove that she is NOT her father's child.

Suspense filled narrative with juicy tidbits. What are these tidbits? These are little lines that grab me, little bits of knowledge or a pretty turn of phrase. There were at least ten times in the book where a small segment of text grabbed me outside the story. I meant to mark them and come back to them for this review but regrettably I didn't so I will just leave them out there for you to find.

Raven Burns is the daughter of a serial killer. From the back synopsis: "The first time Raven Burns saw her father kill, the victim was her mother". I know, right? Needless to say, she is scarred. The quickest path to putting that behind her - grow up, become a contributing citizen, and stop guys like her father as a homicide detective.

The book opens with a murder scene. There is one little aspect that brings her father's memory and the stains from her childhood back to the forefront. The suspense builds and the pace quickens. Is this a copycat killer, is someone trying to frame Raven, or is she truly her father's daughter?

More suspense/thriller than horror. Great for fans of serial killer fiction.
