DHR Code Of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct is our promise to you for the way we behave and conduct ourselves, however itโ€™s also something we hope for from anyone who works with us, takes part in Queer Your eReader or is added to our DHR Directory. We have been around long enough to understand bullying/harassment is something that must be addressed.

Divination Hollow Reviews believes strongly in protecting the well-being, safety, and reputation of its reviewers, contributors, and staff as best we are able.

We take claims of harassment very seriously, whether this is aimed at the people directly involved with DHR such as contributors and admins, or aimed at the horror community in general. We will not knowingly promote known abusers, harassers, bigots, bullies and so on. Where deemed necessary and where possible, we may remove content from the site promoting individuals who are later revealed as any of the above.

We will absolutely not tolerate bigotry, racism, transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, ableism, Islamophobia, Antisemitism, sexism, misogyny or any other forms of bigotry. We do not tolerate abuse and harassment. We also believe that tolerance means not tolerating the intolerant - if you are a TERF, GC, Nazi or believe certain people shouldnโ€™t have certain rights due to any protected characteristic, we are not the website for you. Go away. We do not want you here.

We believe in inclusivity, diversity, education, awareness, and joy. We want people to feel safe and comfortable. This does not mean we will sugar-coat reviews or donโ€™t tackle darker themes, or have discussions around certain topics. Where possible, we encourage people to use trigger warnings, or we may recommend you look up trigger warnings within a review.

We encourage honesty from our reviewers, and we will blacklist anyone found harassing reviewers over โ€˜negativeโ€™ reviews - we encourage authors NOT to read their reviews, as we donโ€™t feel it helps anyone on any side, and if authors feel compelled to do so, we advise caution. We do not tag authors in reviews or police our volunteer contributors. Everyone involved in DHR is a volunteer - we do not get paid for this. We do ask our team reflect the values we hold, but we will not pressure them for reviews, to read arcs/watch screeners as they are already contributing their own time for free.

If you have concerns about any of our team, anyone we feature, etc, we ask you reach out to us to discuss this.

We believe in intersectionality and allyship, and feel allies should be willing to learn and educate themselves, and we strive to reflect this in our own practices.

Please note, this Code of Conduct may be subject to change where necessary, however our core principles will also remain as those outlined above.

Thank you
