Submit a Guest Post
We welcome guest posts for all kinds of content! Whether you want to review something you’ve picked up via Queer Your eReader, or send us a listicle of your favourite horror films, as long as it fits with the site, we’ll happily take it. We are very much open when it comes to content - we feature articles, listicles, reviews, artist spotlights, interviews, essays (including personal essays) and pretty much anything else you can think of.
Horror is our main focus, but we’re also open to any genre that can fall under the horror umbrella. If you keep up with our reviews, you’ll see we often feature paranormal romance, fantasy, sci-fi, True Crime, mystery/thriller/crime, etc, and these can be books, films, podcasts, TV shows, albums, theatre shows…any media you can think of!
We’re also happy to feature non-fiction pieces that discuss pop culture, history, or genre explorations, especially if these are centred on margenalised voices. If you have a look around our site, you’ll find plenty of stuff we hope inspires you. And if you’re not sure, just get in touch. The chances are we will say yes!
You’re welcome to pitch in the first instance or just send us the completed content. Please note, we are non-paying. Please do not send us anything you hope will get published for payment elsewhere! Although we’ll happily feature you, we would much rather you get paid if you’re able. However, as we do not pay, we are able to accept reprints, we just ask you make sure you have the rights back before submitting!
We are also happy to post fiction and poetry, however again, we are non-paying, and please note we are not a dedicated fiction/poetry market. Again, reprints are more than welcome, and we’re also happy to take a look at extracts if you’re publishing a book.
If you are submitting a reprint (fiction/poetry or nonfiction) you are welcome to include details of where it was previously featured, links to any relevant websites, etc. (Example: This piece previously appeared on Divination Hollow Reviews.
Formatting for Submission
Please submit one piece of content at a time. Our inbox gets very busy, so please be patient! And we respond to every email, so you absolutely will hear back from us.
Please use single spacing, with no indents, and a line gap between each paragraph - like you see in this section. This just makes it a lot easier to schedule onto the site. And make sure you include any relevant pictures you’d like included, either in the document or as attachments on the email.
Submissions should be attached as a document (Google, Word, etc) to the email below.
If you would like to have an ongoing series, please reach out via email! We’ve previously featured a few of these, and they’re a lot of fun!
You can submit guest posts throughout the year. We run two event months (Pride in Horror Month in June, our birthday month in November) so keep an eye out on the website or our Substack for details of these. However, we also feature seasonal content, so if you have a piece that’s best suited for a particular time of year, please note this in the subject line and the body of the email.
Send Us Your Work
You can send us a pitch, your work or any queries to our email using the button below. Please ensure if sending us the content directly it is formatted as above, and attached as a document, not in the body of the email. We are not formal and don’t stand on ceremony - just make sure you put something in the body of the email, and include a short bio either in the email or in the attached document (alternatively, you can just note the name you want to appear on the post, pronouns if you wish, and any links to your page, social media, etc, and we will include these at the bottom instead of a bio). Your email will be picked up and reviewed by Elle - please do not chase, as the inbox can get very busy and we cannot confirm response times, but we will come back to you as soon as we can.
