Movie Review: Bollywood Sci=Fi Action Thriller Drama “2.0”

“2.0”

2018, directed by Shankar

Sci-fi Action Thriller

150Min

This movie sums up exactly how I feel when all of the alert notifications are turned on for Twitter on all of the accounts I manage. I become so enraged by all of the radiation from my mobile phones that it becomes Morbin Time and I turn into a nearly unstoppable mega Kaiju 5G bird and destroy whole cities in aggravation. Until my Android BF comes in to save the day, slaps the phone out of my hand, and says turn ‘em off, take a nap, and go touch grass!

A cautionary tale of environmental issues and rampant global destruction due to the advancement of technologies packaged up in a C-movie/D-movie script with Blockbuster budget and utterly enthralling soundtrack. I really enjoy Indian movies whenever I get the opportunity to, and though I am by no means an expert, I can’t say I’ve seen one that’s been given such good access to a big budget for high quality CGI/SFX! I’m delighted. I laughed, I cried, I wheezed. And I’d do it all over again if I could. This is gold medal schlock with some outlandishly cornball one-liners and A+ mecha-kaiju energy.

TW: suicide by hanging, depression and suicidal ideation, gaslighting, multiple dead animals, sexism, classism, still born babies, pregnancy loss, disturbing imagery
