From The Editor’s Desk: A DHR Christmas Message

Wow. What a year, and we still have a week to go!

This last year has provided challenges and yes I know I sound like those Update from the CEO emails employees all get this time of year, but I honestly truly mean this both on a personal and global level: this year has been hard.

So, congratulations. You deserve it.

2021 saw changes to DHR, after our rebranding in November 2020. We’ve taken on new team members, we’re working hard on more promo weeks and the events we’re continuing with next year. And it has been busy! For both of us, with the website, day jobs, and other commitments, sometimes it feels like we’re barely coming up for air. But DHR and the support we’ve received has been a truly wonderful bright spot.

We have a fantastic team, who deserve a lot of credit for their enthusiasm and commitment. And of course, my dear friend, the lady who co-runs this website, Ellen – she does so much to bring you amazing graphics, to get content up, to make the website look lovely and run smooth. Not to mention dealing with themes for various events alongside creating new merch for our shop.

This whole website is a huge team effort, and no one works harder on it than Ellen.

To everyone who returns to this site, who catches up with us, who shares, likes and comments on social media – thank you so much. To every author who submits arcs to us and is brave enough to share their words with the world – thank you. To our guest contributors who eagerly participate in all we do – thank you.

This is a labour of love, and we wouldn’t do it if we didn’t think this was something worth doing. We are so excited to see what 2022 brings, and eager for everyone to see more of our events taking place. (Don’t forget to check the open calls page to see what we’re looking for at the moment!)

So, to all reading this –

Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays

Happy New Year

Thank you for your continued support and for making this year that much brighter

May you spend the festive period with loved ones, but know if you can’t our door is always open
