Movie Review of “Surviving SuperCon” Documentary

Surviving SuperCon

What to say about this documentary…what…to…say. It’s terrifying and relatable. Hahaha. As a person who’s been event coordinator on events under 500 people or event assistant for those under 5,000, I can tell you those are distressing enough, much less anything over that headcount!! Oh Lordy. Add in the elements that the SuperCon event is in Florida, a state with open carry law, and a headcount of 25,000-50,000 with combined genre nerd fandoms!? NO THANKS!!

Blessings and Godspeed to the organizers and staff and volunteers for an event this large. This is absolutely terrifying and stressful and also funny as heck (but only because I’m not the one coordinating it hahaaaaaa!!). Anyone who has attended a con really needs to watch this so they can get even a fraction of a look into all that goes into this every single day of the event, and immediately repeats the day after the current event ends so they can start all over getting ready for next year.  I also agree with the “you forget everything you just went though and do another one” because you enjoy the high of seeing what you built. It’s honestly the only way you would get repeat events of ANY size, I do promise you. Anyone who has coordinated one will tell you the same, much less one of this magnitude.

But next time you’re at a con, do the organizers and staff a favor and please be nice and be kind and have patience.  They’re doing their best!!!
