Horror Movie Characters Who Give Off Big Bisexual Energy

Horror Movie Characters Who Give Off Big Bisexual Energy

First of all, I want to include a disclaimer here and say this entire list has been compiled purely for tongue-in-cheek humour value only. I am not making any assumptions about the sexual preferences of any of the actors listed here. (Please don’t sue me, β€˜kay?)

Secondly, what even is Big Bisexual Energy? (BBE) Well, like many things in life (as Potter Stewart once said about hardcore pornography) you’ll β€œknow it when you see it”. The most recognisable (and often overused) examples usually include:

Pretty much the entire cast of THE MUMMY (1999).

Every important character in THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN franchise.

A large percentage of anything Taika Waititi is involved with, but particularly THOR: RAGNAROK.

Of course, none of these are Horror movies.

I’d like to begin with a statement everyone knows to be true, but isn’t often acknowledged: Just like pirates, vampires are almost always bisexual. When considering BBE, this gives us quite a hefty list to choose from, but first, let’s get the more obvious ones out of the way:

Every main vampire character in FROM DUSK TIL DAWN (1996)

John and Miriam Blaylock in THE HUNGER (1983)

Adam and Eve in ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2013)

David and his gang in THE LOST BOYS (1987) (the Frog Brothers have their own unique sexual energy going on, and I don’t want to make any broad-strokes assumptions about Sam)

Severen in NEAR DARK (1987)

Jerry Dandridge in FRIGHT NIGHT (both the 1985 original and the 2011 remake)

Lestat and Louis in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994)

Count Dracula in BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992) (although one could argue Mina and Jonathan Harkness also radiate BBE.)

Blade in the BLADE franchise (it’s the leather costume…)

Selene in the UNDERWORLD franchise (also lots of leather… and while he is a Lycan not a vampire, Lucian should also be mentioned here)

And finally, everyone in WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS (2019) but particularly Viago and Vladislav (and of course Nadja, Lazslo and Nandor in the TV series of the same name, although the jury is still out about Colin Robinson.)

Special mention should also be given to all the impeccably-styled vampires in TRUE BLOOD, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS who basically ooze BBE in every scene.

When it comes to Horror-based Big Bi Energy, vampires are always a sure bet.

Next, we have the Wonderful Weirdos such as:

Nancy in THE CRAFT (1996)

Morticia and Gomez Addams (I like to imagine they have a monthly swing thing with Lily and Herman Munster…)

The Bride in THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)

Freddy Krueger in the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET franchise

and everyone in THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975)… except Eddie.

BBE is often twinned with some serious Femme Fatale energy, and these luscious (and terrifying) ladies have both in spades:

Justine in RAW (2016)

Jennifer in JENNIFER’S BODY (2009)

Ginger Fitzgerald in GINGER SNAPS (2000)

Lisa Nova in BRAND NEW CHERRY FLAVOUR (2021)

SantΓ‘nico Pandemonium in FROM DUSK TIL DAWN (1996)

Tiffany in BRIDE OF CHUCKY (1998)

Asami Yamazaki in AUDITION (1999)

Clear Rivers in FINAL DESTINATION (2000)

Diane β€œSugar” Hill in SUGAR HILL (1974)

and of course the High Queen of BBE herself, Elvira.

Finally, because despite what most Hollywood directors would have us believe, it is often the dudes who bring us the biggest Big Bisexual Energy (c’mon, just look at Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman…)

Geralt of Rivia in THE WITCHER (2019) (Yes, yes, I know. It’s the leather again, isn’t it?)

Scott Howard in TEEN WOLF (1985) (Think about it. You know it makes sense.)

Pinhead and the Cenobites in HELLRAISER (1986) The Candyman in CANDYMAN (1992) and most of the Nightbreed in NIGHTBREED (1990) (in fairness, probably every character Clive Barker has ever created has BBE. I am here for it.)

Uncle Charlie in STOKER (2013)

Thomas Sharpe in CRIMSON PEAK (2015)

Special Agent Dale Cooper in TWIN PEAKS (1990)

and Father Paul Hill and Sheriff Hassan in MIDNIGHT MASS (2021) (don’t even @ me about this.)

Big Bi Energy is HUGE in Horror. This list could quite easily have been twice as long, but if you strongly agree/disagree with me, or think I’ve missed someone crucial off this list, do feel free to open a discourse on Twitter (you can find me @TLWood_Writes).
