You’ve heard of the Winchester Mystery House and the Tower of London, but how about some lesser-known haunted locations for you to plan your next vacations around?

Lemp Mansion - St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Four members of the Lemp family killed themselves in the mansion over the course of the early 1900s, and the belief is that they decided to stick around. Now converted to a restaurant and inn, you can stay here overnight and drink libations while prodding at the resident ghosts to make an appearance. Just don’t prod too much, you might not like what you see.

House of Death - New York, New York, USA

Located in Greenwich Village, the House of Death looks like any other brownstone in the area. On the inside, though, a series of misfortunes have tainted the atmosphere, contributing to its reputation as one of the most haunted locations in NYC. Even Mark Twain is reputed to have witnessed ghosts during his 12-month stay at the house.

Farnsworth House Inn - Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA

On the outside, the inn doesn’t look like much. During the USA Civil War, it served as a makeshift hospital for the wounded, leading many to speculate that some of the departed opted to stay. My parents ate here during a visit to Gettysburg and swear they saw things flying off the tables when they questioned the existence of spirits.

Felbrigg Hall - Norfolk, England, UK

If you’re reading this blog and interested in ghosts, why not go to a haunted location where the ghost is just as into books as you are? Allegedly, William Windham III haunts the grounds of his family’s former estate, having died after attempting to rescue valuable books from a house fire. Maybe you, dear reader, and he will have much to discuss.

Treasurer's House - Yorkshire, England, UK

A historical house owned by the National Trust, the gorgeous gardens and lavish furnishings are more than enough reason to make a stop next time you’re up in Yorkshire. But if you’re lucky, you might also catch sight of some Roman ghost soldiers running drills out amongst the shrubbery.

The Skirrid Mountain Inn - Llanfihangel Crucorney, Wales, UK

As with all ghost stories, there’s more than enough pinches of salt to go around. However, the stunning countryside and cozy pub atmosphere more than makes up for any potential ghost sightings that may shock you in the middle of the night. Supposedly home to five or more active spirits, you may spend more time looking over your shoulder than not.
