Book Review: We Are Wolves Anthology

Bringing together some fantastic names from the Horror Community, We Are Wolves is a women-only anthology, one which really doesn’t hold back. The stories in these pages really dig under the skin of what it means to be a woman. They shine a light on the daily horrors we face, whether it’s the phrases men use, the small microaggressions, emotional or physical abuse, rape, and more.

Book Review: “Baby Teeth” by Zoje Stage

Spooky kids in horror are one of my favorite tropes. I love how sinister it can seem for a small, innocent child to have devilish intentions, and how creepy in particular little girls are in the world of horror. From The Ring, scary movies have proven to me that tiny girls can provide BIG scares in little packages.

Book Review: “The Lamb Will Slaughter the Lion” by Margaret Killjoy

Wow, what a fun ride this little novella was! How many times can I talk about how much I love queer horror in my reviews before I get put in a box? I am what I am, and I like what I like! These traits are shared by the main character in the story, Danielle Cain, which made her super likable immediately.

Book Review: “Choking Back the Devil” by Donna Lynch

In the last year, I’ve read a lot of horror themed poetry, all of which has blown me away. I never realized such a thing existed until recently, and finding other people that share my love of morbid eloquence has been a great experience for me. Not only have I discovered a new way to appreciate and absorb my favorite genre, but I’m also constantly finding new voices in horror that I hadn’t yet discovered. My personal library is growing, and I’m loving it!

Book Review: '“Coyote Songs” by Gabino Iglesias

With our current political climate being what it is in our country, this book is one I couldn’t possibly recommend highly enough. It can be incredibly easy for people in places of privilege to remain removed and disconnected from what’s happening around them by putting down their phones or turning off their TVs, but it’s important to remain aware and engaged – even if it isn’t always easy.
