Book Review: The Hunted by Gabriel Bergmoser
The Hunted
Gabriel Bergmoser
Frank’s granddaughter is sent to stay with him at his out of the way roadhouse on a little-used stretch of highway. They don’t really talk much, but their quiet life turns upside down when a strange woman turns up, injured, insisting on no police involvement and no hospitals. Maggie is on the run, escaping from violent men determined to complete their hunt.
The Hunted is tense, action-packed, and gory.
Book Review: We Need To Do Something by Max Booth III
Look, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to tell you anything new here. I’ve seen nothing but positive acclaim for this title, and I’m going to be adding my voice to the din momentarily.
The elevator pitch for We Need To Do Something: a family of four shelters in a bathroom on page one to avoid a severe storm warning. Booth sets out to do something pretty unique and extraordinary here, asking himself, “Can I set an entire 150-page book in one small room and make it interesting?”
Book Review: Castaways by Brian Keene
I don’t usually include trigger warnings in reviews, mainly because the stuff I read doesn’t typically require them. Not on purpose, and it’s possible I am missing something in the books I read that others might identify, but for Castaways I do think there are certain scenes one might need to prepare themselves for before diving in.
So, trigger warning – this book contains graphic depictions of sexual assault and rape.
Book Review: Zombie Days by TL Bodine
Forget everything you know about zombie stories...okay, good work. Well, maybe not everything. Can you get some of that back? Look, a lot of people are sick of zombies, and for the most part I'm one of them. Brian Keene did something with The Rising almost twenty years ago and the Walking Dead captured audiences when it premiered but it's been all downhill since. Sure there have been some bright spots in all the darkness, but overall - pass.
