Hispanic Heritage Month: 13 Latinx and Hispanic Films to Add to Your Watchlists

It’s #HispanicHeritageMonth!

To celebrate, we’ve come up with a list from Latinx/Hispanic filmmakers from all over the world. Some of the films are in English, but most of the films are in Spanish with subtitles. Each of these films is on this list for being an outstanding contribution to its genre, and highlighted for its creative visual storytelling. If you’ve seen any or all of the picks on this list, let us know in a comment which is your favorite. Haven’t seen any of them? That’s okay! Looking forward to seeing a film with a different perspective or setting? Tell us which ones you’re most looking forward to watching next!

Are you excited to dive into new method of storytelling or a unique narrative? Instead of our usual method of including a short summary on this list, we have decided just to include the title, director, and trailer. Check them out and see for yourself. Give them each a watch and decide which really tugs at your heart strings, which gets you excited, and which strikes fear in your heart!

We recommend watching these films in their native language with subtitles whenever possible, as that is where they will best retain their atmosphere and emotion*.

(*But we understand this may not be an accessible option for all, so don’t despair -- watch however is best for you, we don’t judge!)

From Thrillers to Scifi to Fantasy to Horror, we’ve got a list of great picks from Latinx filmmakers to add to your watchlist for #HispanicHeritageMonth!
