Book Review: Dracula’s Child by J.S. Barnes
Dracula is an absolute classic, a staple of the horror genre, a key Gothic text. Even if you haven’t read the novel, you know the story, you know the characters, you’ve seen it played out so many times and read stories based off it, seen the effects Dracula has had on vampires in the 20th Century. So what more, you might ask, could be added to Dracula and the vampire mythos? How could a sequel be written to one of the foundational horror texts?
Well, if you are asking that, and if you are dubious of another tale revolving around Mina, Jonathan, Van Helsing and the rest of their small group, I promise –
Book Review: Butchers by Todd Sullivan
Butchers drops you into a fully developed vampiric society in South Korea. For me, it felt like there is a grander world here, but I was only getting the opportunity to experience a very small part of it. This novella represents a single story from this vast world. This was my first experience with Todd, I enjoyed his style and flare for story-telling.
Yes, I am on record stating that I am not a big fan of vampire fiction. That being said, the novella format, the quick chapters, Todd's talent, and the freshness of a story in South Korea kept me enthralled.
Teen Vampire Flicks That Don’t Suck: aka What To Watch That Isn’t Twilight
Listen here, we don’t deny that the “Twilight Saga” and “Midnight Sun” have their place in the Pop Culture Verse like any other teenage horror/supernatural flicks, but you won’t find any of them listed here today. Enjoy our picks for Teen Vampire Flicks that don’t suck!
